Jeffrey T. Copeland, BS, ThM, PharmD

It was a cold night after church one Sunday in a small town in South Georgia.  My mom and I were sitting in the back of a Volkswagen Bug waiting to go to dinner with my dad, brother, and grandparents when it suddenly all made sense. I was a sinner and I was going straight to hell without Jesus. I knew that I had no hope except for Jesus, that He died for my sins and rose from the grave, and I needed to put my faith in Him to save me. So, I bowed my head and told God that I was a sinner, that Jesus died for my sins, and that I trusted Him to save me. After communicating my trust in Jesus through prayer, I turned to my mom and told her: “I’m a Christian now.”  She gave me a great big bear hug.

I am humbled to be a pharmacist, a pharmacy educator, and administrator for nearly 25 years.  My journey began as United States Army Captain responsible for the education of pharmacy technicians, newly commissioned pharmacists, physician assistant students, and serving as the ACPE Continuing Education Administrator.  After the Army, I used my experience to develop and administrate a pharmacy technician program while a full-time Seminary student and then as an Associate Minister of Evangelism and Discipleship.  The experience gained in these two positions laid the groundwork for success as a pharmacy school professor and administrator. During my time as a professor and administrator, I developed and oversaw the experiential education program and the pharmacy technician program, developed six courses of which five directly integrate faith into pharmacy practice (taught Applied Biblical Studies: Pentateuch eight times; taught Applied Biblical Studies: Gospels seven times; taught Medical Missions nine times, taught Medical Missions Experience 12 times; taught Ethics and Life Issues nine times), founded the CPFI chapter and continue to serve as an advisor, participated in 30 medical mission trips while precepting 123 pharmacy students, developed and delivered 151 devotionals to students, faculty, and staff, provided 59 continuing education presentations of which eight directly integrate faith into pharmacy practice, published 59 writings of which 17 directly integrate faith into pharmacy practice, presented 44 posters of which eight directly integrate faith into pharmacy practice, participated in 15 ACPE site visits as an ACPE Site Evaluation Team Member, served as an ACPE Continuing Education  Field Reviewer for nine ACPE Continuing Education Providers, served as a focus group member for ACPE experiential education and for ACPE Continuing Education Field Reviewer, served on local and state pharmacy organization Board of Directors, served on the CPFI Board of Directors, served as the CPFI President for four years, currently serve as the CPFI Immediate Past-President, and currently serve on the San Antonio Area CMDA Advisory Council.
When I’m not working as a professor or as a pharmacist in the ER Pharmacy at Brooke Army Medical Center, I enjoy spending time with my two boys, Nathan and Matthew. They are awesome and I couldn’t be prouder of them! We enjoy hunting, sports, and spending time together.
