Douglas Anderson, PharmD


Dr. Douglas Anderson is Professor and Chair of Pharmacy Practice at Cedarville University School of Pharmacy. Dr. Anderson completed his B.S. in Pharmacy and Pharm.D. degrees at University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy where he was the first Pharm.D. graduate. He also completed a PGY1 Residency at Saint Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, and Fellowship in Internal Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He is a clinician who has specialized in cardiology (cardiovascular risk reduction) and anticoagulation/thromboembolic disorders. He serves on the worship team at Dayton Avenue Baptist Church in Xenia, OH, by playing electric, acoustic, and bass guitar. He is married to his lovely wife Jen who is a physician assistant. He is an avid fisherman, and loves collegiate athletics (especially football).

Jeffrey T. Copeland, BS, ThM, PharmD

 

Dr. Jeffrey Copeland is an ordained Baptist Minister, a Registered Pharmacist, and a former United States Army Captain.  His beloved wife, Julie, is a registered dietitian.  Julie and Jeff are the parents of two wonderful boys, Nathan and Matthew.  He holds a bachelor of science degree from Berry College, a doctor of pharmacy degree from Mercer University, and a master of theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary.  Jeff is the Associate  Dean of Experiential and Pharmacy Technician Education and Professor in Pharmacy Practice, and the CPFI student chapter advisor at the University of the Incarnate Word, Feik School of Pharmacy in San Antonio, Texas. Jeff currently serves as the president of CPFI. 

Fred M. Eckel, BS, MS, SCD (Hon)
 

 

Fred Eckel is Executive Director Emeritus of the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists and Professor Emeritus at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Eshelman School of Pharmacy.

Fred grew up in Philadelphia where he graduated from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.  He earned his MS degree and residency in hospital pharmacy from The Ohio State University School of Pharmacy and Hospitals. He received an honorary doctor of science degree from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in May 2009.  Fred is a pharmacist by choice, commitment and concern.  During his lengthy career, he has worked in community and hospital pharmacy settings.  He served as Director of Pharmacy at the UNC Hospitals from 1968 to 1975.  Fred is a past president of ASHP, NCSHP, and the North Carolina Center for Pharmaceutical Care. Fred is Editor Emeritus of Pharmacy Times and has contributed over 250 articles and editorials to the pharmacy literature.  He is a frequent speaker at pharmacy meetings, having spoken in every U.S. state and on all inhabited continents.

Fred’s wife, Peggy, is a nurse; his daughter, Sarah, and son, Stephen, practice pharmacy.  Fred’s faith is important to him.  He currently serves as the immediate past president of Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International.

Fred is considered a pharmacy futurist. You may not agree with him, but he will make you think.  Be prepared to be challenged, stimulated, and quickened.

Tracy Frame, PharmD
 
 

Dr. Tracy Frame is an Associate Professor at Belmont University College of Pharmacy. She graduated from Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy and then completed a residency at the Veterans Affairs Eastern Colorado Health Care System in Denver, Colorado.  After completing her residency, she worked as a patient care clinical manager with Kroger, Inc., and then started in academia at Cedarville University which ultimately led to her current job at Belmont University.  She teaches in the Pathophysiology and Therapeutics series and the Health Assessment course. She maintains a practice site at The Next Door, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving women impacted by addiction, mental illness, trauma and/or incarceration. She works with the medical team there which provides medically-monitored detoxification, acute medical care, chronic disease management and educational groups. She loves working with the women there in their road to recovery. Dr. Frame also has a huge passion for missions and is involved in missions both locally and globally in underserved areas.  Her areas of research include substance use, women’s health and student wellness and spirituality.
 

 DEVOTION & WORSHIP LEADERS

Jeffrey A. Bates, PharmD

 

Dr. Bates’ personal mission is to recruit, empower, and inspire healthcare providers (especially pharmacists) who are committed to lavishing the love of Christ on our fallen world through the provision of exceptional care, routinely striving to exceed expectations.

Joining Cedarville University’s School of Pharmacy as Associate Dean in the summer of 2016, Dr. Bates helps to ensure that students achieve the highest levels of success, both in their pharmacy studies as well as in their efforts to honor God. His role focuses on guiding future pharmacists from the early stages of recruitment all the way through fostered involvement as alumni.

In the years prior to joining Cedarville, Dr. Bates served at Ferris State University’s College of Pharmacy as Assistant Dean and Director of Student Success. While at Ferris, he founded the Ferris Pharmacy care clinic in 2013. Located inside Ferris’ College of Pharmacy, students regularly honed their clinical skills, assuring comprehensive care to underserved patients in and around Mecosta County. Further, he shared clinical responsibilities in an Interdisciplinary Diabetes Clinic, facilitating experiential and inter-professional learning for pharmacy, optometry, and nursing students.

Dr. Bates is privileged to have received over $130,000 in grants and has been an invited lecturer many times on both state and national platforms. Dr. Bates has helped lead a number of non-profit organizations, serving on the Board of Directors for the Michigan Pharmacists Association, Hope House Free Medical Clinic, as well as Cran Hill Ministries. Currently, he serves as a deacon at Grace Baptist Church in Cedarville and leads committees in both the American Academy of Colleges of Pharmacy as well as in Christian Pharmacy Fellowship International.

He and his wife Sheryl are originally from the central Michigan area, but are now privileged to call Cedarville, Ohio home. They have three children and are strong advocates for, and supporters of, foster care and adoption.


Joy Greene, PharmD



Dr. Joy Greene is a native of North Carolina who received her Pharm.D. degree from UNC in 1998. Joy worked in community pharmacy for seven years before joining the Academy.  She taught at Wingate University from 2005 to 2011. In 2011, God called Joy and her family to move to Jackson, Tennessee where she taught at Union University until June, 2014.  God opened up an opportunity for Joy and her family to return to NC in July of 2014 when she accepted an Assistant Dean position at the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy at High Point University.  Joy has been married to her husband, Bryan, for 23 years and they have two children. Joy and her family are members of Greene Street Baptist Church in High Point.
Joy has a radio/speaking ministry called Joytime Ministries.  "Joytime" is a one-minute Christian radio feature that airs on over 150 radio stations worldwide and Joy speaks regularly at women's events.  You can learn more about Joytime Ministries at www.joytime.org.
 

Susan Smith, BS, PharmD, BCPS 



Dr. Susan Smith completed her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree at Ohio Northern University in May 1990 and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in May 1992.  Following her graduation, Dr. Smith completed a postgraduate specialty residency in Adult Internal Medicine at MUSC in Charleston, South Carolina.  Dr. Smith practiced as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Internal Medicine at MUSC and Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina before transitioning to her current role in academia at Wingate University in Wingate, North Carolina, where she is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy.  Her areas of interest include anticoagulation, medication/patient safety, and pharmacogenomics. Her favorite hobbies include any project that uses a needle or  crochet hook, reading, gardening, sports, and spending time with her family - husband Rob, children Melanie and Matthew, and 2 cats Bootsie and Tiger.


Dr. Wahba graduated from Alexandria University, College of Pharmacy with a BS in Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Chemistry. After his graduation, he purchased his own drug store in Alexandria, Egypt, where he practiced retail pharmacy.  Dr. Wahba joined Duquesne University, School of Pharmacy, in Pittsburgh, as a research associate and a graduate student. After earning his Ph.D. in pharmacology and toxicology in 1972, he worked as a forensic toxicologist at the crime laboratory of Allegheny County, Pittsburgh, PA. In August 1995, Dr. Wahba and his family moved to Hamilton Ontario, Canada, where he established and worked as a manager of the first Drug Information Center at McMaster Medical Center. He returned to Pittsburgh in September 1997 and re-joined the Allegheny County Crime Laboratory to work as a forensic toxicologist.  He was promoted to the position of manager of the toxicology section and continued serving there for thirteen years. During his tenure as a forensic toxicologist, Dr. Wahba taught pharmacology and toxicology on a part-time basis at two universities and one college in the Pittsburgh area. Dr. Wahba is still available as a forensic toxicology expert witness in civil and criminal court cases. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Forensic Toxicology.

In August 2001, Dr. Wahba joined Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) as an associate professor of pharmaceutical sciences and as director of Spiritual programs until he retired from full-time teaching in 2013. Currently he serves as an adjunct faculty at PBA. Dr. Wahba enjoys teaching at a Christian School of Pharmacy where integration of faith is an integral part of the curriculum. 
 

STUDENT RETREAT SPEAKERS

Keith W. Allhands, BS Pharm

 

Keith Allhands is a pharmacist living in southeast Indiana.  He started out his career working in the first computerized independent pharmacy in the state of Indiana located in New Castle, while working part-time at the local hospital.  Keith retired after 39 years at Dearborn County Hospital working his way from staff pharmacist to assistant director of pharmacy services.  A Purdue graduate, he is licensed in the states of Indiana and Alaska.  Professional organizations include Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International (CPFI), American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP), American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), Indiana Pharmacists Alliance (IPA), and Christian Medical and Dental Associations (CMDA).  He works in his community as a board member and clinic director for the Volunteers in Medicine of Dearborn, Ohio, and Switzerland Counties, a free medical clinic in Aurora, IN.  Keith volunteers as a pharmacist interpreter and a board member of the Hook’s Drug Store Museum located at the Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis, a board member of the Dearborn County Federal Credit Union, and a member of the Dillsboro Community C.A.R.E. (Community Action Response Engage) team.  Keith is a supply pastor for various churches for pastors needing vacation/sick time or churches between full-time pastors.  He volunteers on short-term medical brigades.  He is married to his bride, Linda, has three beautiful daughters, and four engaging grandchildren.
